Golf Destination: Scottsdale - AZ

Arizona has more courses per capita than any state west of the Mississippi River, and understandably so - blue, sun-kissed skies and sparse mild breezes make golf weather close to perfection for most of the year. If you golf a different course every day for nearly six months you still wouldn't conquer all the greens that the Scottsdale-Phoenix metro area has to offer. Unbelievable? Yes. But not nearly as astonishing as the stunning backdrop the Sonoran desert is for many of the courses. Although some courses are private, many allow limited public play and many are public courses. A good number of the top hotels in Scottsdale and Phoenix are golf resorts or have arrangements for preferred tee-times with the area's top courses. There are plenty of places to hit the links.
Some of the exceptional golf courses in the area include: Troon North, The Phoenician, Grayhawk, and Tournament Players Club (TPC) at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, home of the Phoenix Open, all in Scottsdale; Raven Golf Club at South Mountain, The Legacy, and Marriott's Wildfire at Desert Ridge, all in Phoenix; Rancho Manana in Cave Creek; The Boulders in Carefree; Eagle Mountain, SunRidge Canyon, and We-Ko-Pa in Fountain Hills; Marriott's Mountain Shadows in Paradise Valley; Ocotillo in Chandler; and lots more scattered throughout the cities and suburbs.
